Dealing
satisfactorily with Issues relating to Health and Safety is becoming
ever more important to businesses. The onus is continuing to increase
on employers to take the necessary steps to insure the Health
and Safety of their employees but also to be able to demonstrate
to other organisations they have dealings with that appropriate
policies and procedures are in place.
In the near future it will become much more common for those involved
in awarding contracts to refuse to deal with organisations that
are not deemed to have suitable policies and procedures in place
with regard to Health and Safety. It is not always realised that
companies who appoint sub - contractors have a responsibility
to insure that the company carrying out the work is competent
to do so.
The government is currently consulting on a new bill to replace
the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974 which is likely to feature
stronger penalties and higher fines for safety breaches. In addition
magistrates may be given the power to impose a jail sentence for
many Health And Safety offences. Furthermore the government is
planning to introduce a new offence of 'Corporate Killing' which
could see company directors imprisoned for fatal accidents.
With the demands of current legislation and the potential implications
of planned future legislation many hard pressed company directors
find they need some form of outside assistance. Amra Cost Management
Ltd. can offer this assistance to small companies who do not have
the resources to fund their own in house safety officer. Our ongoing
consultancy service can provide organisations with regularly updated
Health and Safety advice whilst insuring their current procedures
are suitable and sufficient for their intended purpose. Our service
is flexible and can be tailored to the individual requirements
of the client.
